Hi, I’m Aydrien — a senior UX designer with 15 years of experience. My career began in the gutter — literally. I joined a tiny marketing team at a gutter company in the middle of Texas, cranking out print collateral for roofers and contractors. Somewhere between tacos and the Texas heat, I trained for a marathon and met the two friends who nudged me toward my first real design gig at Dell Blue. At Dell, I sharpened my visual chops and stumbled into user experience — the perfect collision of my psychology background and love for problem-solving. It was 2013, PowerPoint prototypes were the vibe, and I was hooked.
That spark carried me to Iowa, where I earned my first official UX title working on embedded systems for a global agricultural tech leader. I obsessed over component diagrams and interaction flows until I outgrew the corn and made my way to Chicago, a dream since I was 14. As the sole UX designer at Insight Product Development, I dove headfirst into FDA-regulated medical devices, learning to balance empathy with compliance while conducting research that directly shaped two life-saving products.
From there, I moved into enterprise-scale design at Nielsen. I built cross-functional bridges between analysts, engineers, and executives; ran design sprints across Europe; and launched a global retail pricing platform that transformed complex data models into clear, actionable insights. It was my first taste of designing systems that directly impacted billion-dollar decisions, and it solidified my passion for making enterprise tools as intuitive as consumer apps.
In 2019, a DM changed everything: I joined AWS at Amazon, newly married, volcano outside our window, designing high-scale training and certification solutions for millions of learners worldwide. I learned to move faster, validate smarter, and advocate harder in one of the most complex enterprise ecosystems in the world.
Then came Nordstrom, where I hit my stride in consumer UX. I designed personalized shopping flows, saw my work live in one of my favorite apps, and helped launch Nordstrom’s first Transgender Toolkit — an unforgettable moment of personal and professional impact.
So here we are: me, writing this, and you, looking for your next great designer. I’m searching for the right team, a product worth pouring myself into, and people who care as deeply as I do. More than just a Virgo, I’m a collaborator, a listener, a strategist, and a joyful perfectionist who believes the best design makes life easier — and a little more beautiful. If you’re building something meaningful, I’d love to talk.
Where has she been?
-
At Nordstrom, I designed mobile and web experiences used by millions of customers, shaping how people discovered, purchased, and restocked the products they loved. From fulfillment flows to omnichannel touchpoints, I worked end-to-end to bring clarity, joy, and personalization into the customer journey. My proudest achievement was leading the redesign of the Shop Tab — transforming it into a trusted, personalized digital storefront that generated millions of dollars in revenue in its first month.
Beyond the product work, I also championed inclusion by designing and launching Nordstrom’s first Transgender Toolkit, which I had the honor of presenting directly to the Nordstrom brothers. This role sharpened my ability to design high-impact consumer experiences at scale while reminding me that the best design is both human and transformative.
-
At AWS, I joined a lean, high-impact UX team focused on helping millions of customers upskill, train, and certify in cloud technologies. We designed intuitive, scalable learning experiences that served both enterprise clients and individual learners worldwide, bridging the needs of Fortune 500 companies and developers just starting out.
Guided by Amazon’s Leadership Principles, I practiced deep Customer Obsession, took Ownership of end-to-end flows, and moved quickly to Invent and Simplify solutions that could scale across regions and industries. From early concept to final pixel, I learned how to prototype fast, validate globally, and design at enterprise scale — always staying laser-focused on making complex cloud learning feel approachable, human, and actionable.
-
At Nielsen, I designed a suite of cloud-based enterprise tools that enabled global retailers and brands to make smarter, data-driven pricing decisions. My proudest achievement was leading the UX for a large-scale retail pricing platform used across Europe — a high-visibility product that translated complex pricing models and competitive data into clear, actionable insights for decision-makers. The work demanded clarity, trust, and precision at an enterprise scale, and required deep collaboration across data science, engineering, and product teams.
In addition, I facilitated five international design sprints, partnering with stakeholders across Europe to rapidly validate ideas and shape future-facing solutions. It was fast-paced, global, and transformative — teaching me how to simplify complexity and build enterprise tools that feel as intuitive as consumer apps.
-
At Insight, I was the solo UX designer on a cross-functional team developing FDA-regulated medical devices — including a molecular diagnostics system and an enteral feeding pump. I led user research, wireframing, and interaction design from start to finish, working side-by-side with industrial designers and engineers to bring complex healthcare tools to life. It was high-stakes, high-impact work that taught me how to advocate for patients under strict regulatory constraints — and how to design with empathy when lives are on the line.
-
My first official UX role took me to Iowa, where I joined the ConnectFive team supporting John Deere’s Command Center platform. As a Production Designer, I worked closely with senior UX leads to create detailed component specs, interaction flows, and documentation for complex enterprise tools used by farmers and dealers worldwide. It was boots-on-the-ground UX — meticulous, collaborative, and foundational. I learned the power of precision and how even the smallest detail can drive big impact.
-
At Dell’s in-house creative agency, I leveled up fast — designing marketing collateral across digital and print for one of the world’s most recognized tech brands. But the real plot twist? I was asked to help improve how our studio collaborated with external partners. That project — part research, part design, all problem-solving — introduced me to user experience. I realized I could combine my creative instincts with my love of psychology and systems thinking. From that moment on, I knew UX was the path.
-
My design journey began at a gutter company in the heart of Texas — proof that every great story starts somewhere unexpected. At Senox, I was on a four-person marketing team, crafting print catalogs, flyers, and mar-com materials for contractors and roofers across the country. It’s where I learned the basics of layout, typography, production, and communicating clearly with a non-designer audience — skills I still use today. Also where I learned you can eat too many breakfast tacos… but it's worth the risk.

My love for design started in the heart of Mississippi, long before I knew it would become my career. I spent countless hours teaching myself the Adobe tools — Illustrator, Photoshop — and experimenting with type, color, and composition. Infographics became my playground, where I discovered how clarity and storytelling could live side by side.
I started taking on small freelance projects, building logos, flyers, and graphics for local businesses, friends, and anyone who would let me create. Those early gigs weren’t just practice — they were my introduction to what design could do: communicate, inspire, and transform ideas into something people could see and feel. Looking back, those Mississippi beginnings were where I first realized that design wasn’t just decoration. It was power.
What does she really do, though?

“Working with Aydrien at Nordstrom was a joy—she’s one of those people who truly lights up a team. Beyond her sharp skills as an interface designer, she’s engaged, authentic, and genuinely cares about her work and her teammates as people.
Aydrien was one of the first people to make me feel welcome when I joined Nordstrom. (She’s incredible at this—she played a leading role in several key DEI initiatives and was a driving force in many of our inclusive workspaces.) She made a point to collaborate with me to present a united, organized UX point of view during design reviews, which made receiving feedback easier and helped us put our most professional foot forward as a team. I know I speak for many when I say I deeply valued her warmth, professionalism, and diplomacy in navigating ambiguity and design critiques.
She’s also extremely collaborative across functions, which—as a senior content designer—made working with her feel effortlessly productive. One project that stands out was our work on displaying SLAs on our product details page. It was a content-heavy initiative, and Aydrien not only handled the interface visuals but also helped me parse, organize, and mock up how we’d present the SLA content to customers. Aydrien also excels at high-level visionary work—her contributions to our in-store app experience are a great example of that.
Any team would be lucky to have Aydrien. I constantly looked to her as an example of not only an incredible designer but also an incredible teammate. Her positive impact on our team is lasting.”
— Elise | Senior UX Content Designer @ Nordstrom

“Aydrien is the magical designer you need on your team to inspire and strategically lead UX. Aydrien joined the Fulfillment and Returns space at Nordstrom during a time where we needed more leadership streamlining working processes and building a vision and roadmap for our Nordstrom Rack experiences. Aydrien impressed me by how quickly she learned the domain space and demonstrated she can handle stakeholders with competing agendas. She also consistently became someone I could depend on and trust and it comes easily from someone who is a gently strong collaborator and communicator, working effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Aydrien’s superpower is thinking innovatively and being able to phase out work into manageable timelines and I’d work with Aydrien again in a heartbeat.”
— Franklin | UX Designer @ Chewy
“Aydrien is ambitious and driven. She produces sharp designs and truly embraces the user centered approach on product management. She works hard on securing patterns and standards are adopted early on. She is very good at handling changes in priorities and works hard to secure Her outputs are meeting all needs from various teams (ie development, product). She has an incredible sense of humour and fab energy. A true team player.”
— Josefina | Product Owner @ Nielsen
“Aydrien worked in the Dell Blue in-house Studio team as a production designer for a year. She showed tremendous growth over that short time and as his manager I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her. Aydrien's energy and eagerness to learn and grow were hard to match.”
